Great Utility, Good Interface, Questionable Security
After using PopCopy2 well beyond it’s lifespan (and chatting with the developer who has taken on a different carrier path), I was delighted to find something that could come close to the ease of use of the aforementioned.
PasteBoard has a pleasant user interface, good operation with straight forward options and workflow that keeps the manual steps down while allowing for great clipboard storage and organization. The limits of the storage of clipboards (number of items to show, number of items per clip-folder, are reasonable for most people and keep the interface clean. The operation is fast and works in most mainstream apps.
What made me exceptionally nervious is that once the app was originally downloaded and installed from the Apple App Store (the trusted entity & trusted source), it executed a download of a newer version from it’s web site using Safari. I deleted the original app from the App Store and re-installed and it did it again. I wish I had kept the original app but that did make me nervious.
